My Background

For the past five years, I've been writing fulltime for magazines, businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies. I'm experienced in journalism, public relations, marketing, fundraising, and corporate communications. I live in Bloomington, Indiana, where I am a contributing editor for Bloom Magazine and work closely with several schools of Indiana University.

I'm originally from Chicago, and attended college at Stanford University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in History. After moving to Bloomington in 2003, I completed a Master of Public Health degree at IU and worked as a media relations specialist. I began freelancing fulltime in 2007, and have since completed two nonfiction books (plus a children's book), hundreds of bylined magazine articles, and many business projects from website content to press releases to fundraising materials.

My favorite types of projects deal with high-level strategy and big-picture thinking, working with executives and administrators to make their needs and ideas clear to all types of stakeholders.
